At the time I made the cross that resulted in this seedling I did not have a hybridizing focus on appliques. Since then appliques have become a primary focus of mine. So when this seedling first bloomed and I saw that its 6.5″ bloom was an applique I was very surprised and thrilled. It was pure luck and I’ll take it!
What is even more exciting about this seedling is the rather unique pink-lavender color. An applique on a true hot-pink flower has not yet been produced in the history of daylilies. Could this seedling be the first step toward producing the first truly hot-pink applique? I am hoping my luck continues!
